This is a PC that I worked on a
few years ago. Before I cleaned it
I took a pic of it because it was
so dirty. Notice the blankets of
dirt inside the unit.
Not only can dust and dirt restrict
airflow, but moisture can build up
in the dust and dirt which can
cause the components to short out.
Note: This came from a
non-smoker home, And her house is
very clean.......

This is a view of the cooling fan in
the back of the case. Very BAD!

This is the bezel that directs air
over the processor. It was worse,
but this gives you a good idea.

This is the CPU / Processor Heat
sink...This could cause the
processor to get hot, and
fail....Some processors are known
to explode under a load if they are
not cooled....

Also notice that the Power Supply
at the top of picture is full of
dust as well.....

Have your PC cleaned at least once a year.... Why? Look!!!!!
